
Progress! In 2013, the Australian Dietary Guidelines were changed to promote an environmentally sustainable eating pattern. They also included a statement that vegan diets are healthy and nutritionally adequate and are appropriate for people during all stages of life.
This year, the US Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee is recommending Americans eat less meat because it's better for the environment. This is the first time it has factored in environmental sustainability in its recommendations. Also included is a finding that a diet lower in animal-based foods is healthier. Source: The Hill
