
Thank you to everyone who made a submission to the inquiry into poultry welfare, telling the government that they want to see the poultry industry end within 10 years.
By the deadline we had 940 people signed up. Still more are joining, with over 1000 now saying they don't just want chickens out of cages, they want chickens out of farming! Thank you for speaking up for the over half a billion chickens and other birds who are bred, raised and slaughtered every year for food in Australia.
This has been the biggest response in Australian history calling for an end to animal agriculture. The previous best was 150 for an inquiry into agriculture by the Productivity Commission in 2016.
In the next few months the standards body will be reviewing and publishing all submissions made to the inquiry. We will keep you informed of the progress.
