What is the Vegan Australia Promise?

The Vegan Promise is the name of the Vegan Australia membership program. Whether you've been vegan for 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years or 30 plus years the Vegan Promise is for you. 

We ask all vegans to reconfirm that they boycott animal products, live by vegan principles and are committed to collective action to end the exploitation of animals. 

By signing up for any of the Vegan Australia membership tiers you will have the opportunity to write your own promise or to explain why being vegan is important to you. Your Promise will then be shared on our Promise Wall. You can read the powerful statements other vegans have made here.

Boycott animal
exploitation

I pledge that, as a vegan, I choose to boycott animal products and that I am committed to overturning the oppression of farmed and other exploited animals.

Vegan principles

I adhere to the principles of veganism as a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.

Collective action

I pledge that I have chosen to live in a way that avoids the products of animal exploitation as a form of activism conducted collectively with others.

We encourage you to choose one of our sustaining membership levels - Vegan Advocate and above - if you have the capacity to do so.
